LIBRARY: Petite Sirah 2006 2pk 1.5L
With Petite Sirah mountain and valley floor vineyards producing remarkably different character in recednt vintages, we just had to celebrate these different personalities and share them with our friends. To have blended them together would have been a missed opportunity...and so we present two 2006 Petite Sirahs: Pepperland and Muscle Man!
2006 Petite Sirah – Pepperland
Pepperland has been named for its generous offering of crushed white pepper, briar and ripe berry notes. Big on the palate the mountain fruit acidity imparts an elegance of balance for such a big wine and assures a fine complement to game, pork and pasta.
2006 Petite Sirah – Muscle Man
You want it BIG!? The warmth of the northern valley floor ripened this Muscle Man Petite Sirah into a big burly berry pie of a wine. Inky in color, the wine glass is coated in purple crank case fluid, staining the stainless. Huge and viscous on the palate, mouth coating flavors of ripe blackberry pie will stick to your teeth and linger in a finish that lasts for a half-hour. Do not drink this and drive – you will not fool anyone. –BF

"Wonderfully aromatic and full of personality, with fresh black and white pepper notes defining the zesty wild berry, mineral and savory flavors. Full-bodied, with tannins that are firm, gripping and taut."
2006 Petite Sirah, 'Pepperland' – Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2006 Petite Sirah Pepperland is appropriately named. Aggressive oak and spice as well as background blue and black fruit aromas jump from the glass of this medium to full-bodied, tannic, closed, angular, and astringent effort. There is a lot buried under the surface, and while time in the bottle will be helpful, it may not be enough to bring this wine into total harmony."
2006 Petite Sirah, 'Pepperland' – Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
"Saturated ruby. Highly aromatic nose delivers cassis, smoked meat, crushed rock and black pepper. Dense and sweet, combining an almost roasted Chateauneuf du Pape-like character with very good inner-palate energy. The black fruit flavors are perked up by a peppery quality that lifts the wine's aftertaste. Tannins are chewy and substantial. This fruit comes from York Creek Vineyards on Spring Mountain, at an altitude reaching 2,000 feet."

"Deep, saturated ruby. Wild, superripe black fruit, meat and pepper aromas perked up by a violet topnote. Supersweet and lush but with plenty of tannic support for the powerful, slightly raisiny dark berry flavors. At once denser and sweeter than the Pepperland, but with no shortage of energy. The huge, dusty tannins coat the front teeth. A chewy, no-holds-barred Petite Sirah that's worth laying down."

"Intense coffee, spice and cola notes are thickly full-bodied, with ripe, pure raspberry and black fruit flavors and firm, chewy tannins. Shows wonderful complexity and focus. The flavors sing on the finish."
2006 Petite Sirah, 'Muscle Man' – 90 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2006 Petite Sirah Muscleman’s blue/black color is accompanied by a sweet nose of blueberries, blackberries, and background oak. Thick, juicy, rich, and highly extracted, with no bitterness, this enormously endowed Petite Sirah requires 5-6 years of cellaring, and should be drunk over the following 20-25. Impressive!"
